दिवस, तुझ्याकडे बघून गेला असता,

किती झालं तरी, जखमा मात्र भरल्या नसत्या.
शेवटी चित्रच ते, त्याला जिवंत भावना नसत्या !

तारुण्यात दिसतेस खास

रुळल्या बटेला सांगुन गेले.

त्या क्षणाला आठवुन तुला,

मन माझे मोहरून गेले.

स्पर्शातल्या मोरपीसांची,

आठवण ओठ सांगुन गेले.

व्यथा

तुझ्या डोळ्यात एक नशा होती,

आता सर्व काही संपले.

ते कुणासाठी तरी आसुसलेले होते,

आता कुणापायी तरी घाबरलेले !

Himalayan Punchinello

The Punchinello is a small butterfly found in South Asia and Southeast Asia that belongs to the Riodinidae family. The species is common in North India, specially in North East and Himalayan region. It exhibits both Dry and Wet season form.

Paris Peacock (Papilio paris)

One of exotic species of swallowtail butterfly found in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This species is found in rain-forest and humid deciduous forest at elevations between sea level and about 500m. During daytime it can be found either mud puddling or nectoring on citrus trees. Citrus is also its host plant apart from Rutaceae. It spends a lot of time puddling or nectoring. During puddling, it hops till find the appropriate spot to puddle. It keeps on flapping the wings and stops as it settles down to spot it likes. Once settled, it spreads the wings flat, as seen in photo.

It is a large butterfly and continuously flutters the wings during nectoring. Due to similarities in behavior, size and light conditions, to obtain decent photographs, tricks to photograph Southern Birdwing can also be applied for Paris peacock as well.

106–132 mm

(1) Papilio paris paris Linnaeus, 1758 – Chinese Paris Peacock

(2) Papilio paris tamilana Moore, 1881 – Sahyadri Paris Peacock (=Tamil Peacock)

School Chale Hum !

Children enjoying their walk to school.

Still many of them have to walk miles to reach the nearest school. State transport bus either don't run on time or don't run at all ! However, the walk serves children to have fun and more importantly to create a bond and memories of lifetime !

School is practice for the future !

This is Sunil, a 14 year boy from a village near Ratnagiri. He and his friends travel back to his home from school by state transport bus. Usually bus does not arrive. So either these little fellows have to walk back or wait for some biker for a lift. Sunil comes from a poor family of four, parents and two brothers. Older brother and father goes to Mumbai for few months for painting job and returns home during Monsoon time to work in paddy field. Sunil after returning home cannot go to play, he has to assist his mother in household work. He too is willing to leave school, to earn more money.

A good school teaches you resilience !

Running a nationwide campaign has certainly increased the number of schools. What about accessibility, infrastructure, and quality ?
However, much better than to have nothing !

Wandering Destination : Bhatye Beach, Ratnagiri

Wandering Destination : Bhatye Beach, Ratnagiri (MH,IN)

Bhatye beach is one of the prime beach my home town Ratnagiri city has. It is wide enough and it is at least a kilometer long. Plantation of cypress tree runs along with the beach. As many people prefer the Mandavi beach, Bhatye beach has comparatively less crowded. Less crowd makes this place peaceful and un-disturbed experience of a breezy evening is possible.

Personally, I like to take a long walk on this beach.The sound of splashing waves at sunset, watch lighthouse functioning, look at the sand patterns created by waves, get surprised with different colors and textures of the rocks near by and so many things can be experienced at the evening time. Every visit has something new for you. Definitely on the list of my favorite beaches !
