Posters which makes you think

Posters which makes you think:

" A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and graphic elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly text. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and informative. - Wikipedia "

Posters can be used for many purposes. The famous ones are films and advertise. However, posters can play vital role in various campaigns such as literacy, family planning etc.

The simplicity, eye-catching elements and slogan (mostly rhythmic) are few characteristics of a good poster. These basics are not that applicable for technical posters, where it is used to explain the concept to maximum extent by adding tons of data and analysis.

Here I am showcasing the two posters I designed.  These posters are bit different from 'Photoquote' series I have started on this blog - which just adds a quote by famous people related to the photo subject.

The first photo, is about family planning. Two butterfly eggs of resting on a leaf edge were shot. Two eggs enclosed by red square bracket indicates a planned family with two children. The inverted triangle represents the family planning campaign and also it directs the attention of the viewer to the bracket enclosed eggs.

The second poster is promoting the awareness against discrimination of any kind - gender, color, country etc. Object shot is back-lit banana leaf. Play of light creates the color difference between two parts of the leaf, making one darker than the other. Slogan is straight and simple - "STOP DISCRIMINATION". "O" in the word stop is creatively used as head of the girl. The two colors - red and back - represents the color based discrimination.

  1. second example is excellent.
It makes easy to understand that everything we discriminate, is actually two sides of same object, but our view makes the difference
